Recommended Read - Jack Hunter: Secret of the King

A couple of weeks ago, I had this book listed as one of my weekly Recommended Books on the left side of my blog. The author, Martin King, was kind enough to send me a free full copy so I could review it for him!

Jack Hunter: Secret of the King has a lot going for it! The characters are likeable, and the situations are interesting. This book reminded me of some of my favorite movies as a kid - it was a good read! I liked the action and suspense, though muddling through the British English was a little hard for me since I'm American. Isn't it crazy how English doesn't always translate from one region to another?

As for the bad, there were a lot of examples of poor grammar and run-on sentences with WAYYY too many commas. Seriously way too many - some sentences felt like they had the hiccups! ;) There were also a couple of content errors - at one point, the author calls Jack "Trevor," and towards the end the author has Holly saying something when he wasn't actually present with the other characters. Very annoying.

However, issues aside, I was still really glad I got the chance to read this book! I liked the extra touch with the chapter titles... if you read the book, you'll see what I mean. If the errors were fixed, it would easily earn five stars. As it is right now, I gave it four stars on Goodreads.

  1. P.S I was corrected about the "Trevor" thing, it's apparently a piece of British slang. :) lol. Who knew? And it sounds like the Holly error has been fixed.
