Wikipedia is amazing - and showcases plenty of writers' skills!!

I read this really incredible blog post today about Wikipedia, and how it compares to other wonders being built such as the Great Pyramid. I especially loved when Marc mentioned that: "Presume only Americans have contributed and that the average American watches 5 hours of tv per day. If 3% of the population chose not to watch tv today, then the entire content of wikipedia could be written by them during that time."

That's crazy, right?!? And yet, honestly, many authors do forgo television in favor of reading, writing, or researching topics. In my opinion, Wikipedia is a tribute to millions of experts in certain fields who took the time to write - and many of them are probably authors of various other types of works, including journal articles and books.

Next time you use Wikipedia, see if you can locate the author of the page. You might be surprised to find out how versatile the writer is!
