The Legend of Luke by Brian Jacques
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is a dark tale, much darker than previous books in the Redwall series. The great warrior Martin, along with his ever-growing group of pals, travel across the lands in search for Martin's father. What I love about this book is that it doesn't have the more typical happy ending found throughout the Redwall series, but rather a more gritty and real type of ending that you could find in the everyday lives of warriors.

Marlfox by Brian Jacques
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The inhabitants of the Redwall series are introduced to creatures considered by some to be magical - Marlfoxes. They add a new level of intrigue to the book, which is chock full of adventure. Yet another wonderful additional to the Redwall series!

The Long Patrol by Brian Jacques
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
There are so many great characters to fall in love with in this story, and I loved the tie-in to one of the original stories with the mystery of Castle Kotir! This series is fantastic for all lovers of fantasy, animals, and reading in general.

I Shouldn't Be Telling You This: Success Secrets Every Gutsy Girl Should Know by Kate White
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This book came at just the right time for me, as I work on finishing up my Master's degree and figure out my next career move. While the copy I received was an advance uncorrected proof (and therefore somewhat incomplete) I still felt like I walked away with more confidence and some helpful career and life tips. I will say that at points it felt a bit too cliche and somewhat bossy, but I have found that to be the case with most memoir-style advice books.
Overall, this is a well-written, engaging, and useful tool for all women looking to be successful in their life path.

The Pearls of Lutra by Brian Jacques
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is perhaps one of the only books in the series (the only one that I can recall, at least) that follows primarily an otter rather the usual main characters. Sadly, this particular story wasn't one of my favorites in the series, as the characters came off a little stiff and I just wasn't as drawn in as I usually am. However, it was still just as beautifully written as all the other books in this series.

Outcast of Redwall by Brian Jacques
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This particular tale of Redwall has two of my favorite characters in the whole series in it - Sunflash, who to me is one of the more loveable badger lords, and little Arundo with his adorable lisp! I also love the redeeming nature of this story, where we discover that even the most evil creatures may have some good in them.
